wonderful husband...

my husband said somethings that were very profound tonight that I needed to share...
he said one thing we will be known for is being resilient....
that really is so true..we have not always had the "typical" relationship but we have always managed to make it work..one thing we have learned is to cherish the time we get together...and to above everything else to always have fun!! And I think everyone can see from my past almost 2 months out in CA...TC and I do have alot of fun!!

then his second thing:

and life is what happens when you are making other plans...

my husband is pretty wonderful and I am very very thankful for him
I am headed to KY tomorrow to work so I will not be posting for a little bit or at least not posting about topics going on in CA since I wont be in CA...

So I will be seeing some of you all very soon!!

A night out in Malibu

So we went back to my 2nd favorite town in CA my first being San Diego!!
We had a group date in Malibu last night - Gladstones
see website- www.gladstones.com
We had a beautiful view overlooking the ocean- even though it started raining while we were there..and yes it is still raining today (anyone seeing a trend with my blogs...IT DOES RAIN IN CA...don't believe anyone that tells you anything different)
We went with Ryan and Colleen, Maile, and Joel (you will see them in the pics)
So this restaurant is in the running to take my parents to when they come in Sept.
It was an all seafood restaurant...so of course I got a hamburger and a martini!!
Also as you can see above..they wrap your leftovers in different animals..mine was a whale.

Before we got to the restaurant last night we stopped along the PCH and took some pics..for those of you who don't know..last night was the closest the moon had been to the earth in 18 years...so that was pretty cool!

Well today TC and I are headed to see the Broadway play Chicago at College of the Canyons..so stay tuned and I will let you know how that is.

So for all the Sydney followers...she has started soccer (Mia Haam Jr)
She told my sister the other day she needed some binoculars...Alison asked her why...
She said well I need them to watch the birds when I am playing soccer...Alison told her if you are playing soccer you should not be watching the birds...she then proceeded to tell Alison, "Mom..if I am outside I am watching those birds.." haha So I am sensing we will have a real superstar on our hand...
I am waiting on some pics from my sister (hint hint Alison) of Sydney so I can post them to my blog so everyone can see how cute she is...her soccer uniform sounds very interesting..i think between her too big soccer shirt..shorts..and shin cards that basically cover her whole legs...I don't think you can see anything but her little hands..

Also today one of my best buddies is celebrating the upcoming birth of her daughter..baby Rinaldi...right about now she is opening presents and I am sure looking cute as ever....I love you Kim..hope you are having a great time at your shower.

Hope everyone is having a great day and enjoying March Madness....shout out to those KY WILDCATS.....

Out on the town!!

Well this is going to be a random blog
First of all I would like us all to take a moment out of our day and really send our thoughts and prayers out to Japan.
I am sure we have all been glued to our tv's and computers this weekend watching such a devestating event...The things these people are having to endure is beyond my comprehension.
So please dont let the day go by without thinking of them and sending positive thoughts their way..they need it right now.

2nd- WHAT ABOUT THEM CATS....can I get
C-A-T-S...oh yeah
I love to do that cheer at the top of my lungs!!
TC really enjoys it too...haha..(he is a stinky BAMA and UofL fan...I mean really I married a UofL fan??? )

Now on to the weekend....
Saturday night TC and I hit the town. We went out to eat at a restaurant in Santa Monica called Fig..it had all locally grown items on their menu...their menu is constantyl changing depending on what is in season. The restaurant is named for a huge fig tree (you can see in the pictures I am attaching)
Then after dinner we drove down Santa Monica Blvd-to our next destination.
Elephant Theatre...

So overall fun date night with my hubby!!

Sunday was a tougher day...one my best friends from college had a baby shower.
It is very hard when things for such near and dear friends come up..things you never dreamed in your whole life you would miss...
I know alot of amazing things are going on with my friends right now but I just want them all to know...I think of them often and they are never forgotten...

So as everyone knows..my niece is my pride and joy....aka bones as we call her.
TC and I sent a package to her in the mail...tc's gift that he choose for a 3 yr old was magnets...i thought he had lost his mind...
But guess what was bones favorite gift in the package...Magnets...
She has now called and requested TC send her some pink magnets in the mail..so if anyone knows where to get pink magnets....
Syd has about gotten in trouble several times over these mangets
1.) her friend annie asked if she could play with them..and syd responded no i am sorry my karen and tc sent these to me from ca...you cant play with them
2) she snuck them to school in her pockets last week...

Also my sister has subscribed her to two childrens magazines....and so they read some out of them everynight..the other night Syd as they were reading said mom I just love me some science..haha...we did not even know she knew the word science.
So basically we could have have a doctor on our hands.

So what is different...

Hello All You Blog Followers:
So the question has been asked many times...how do you like CA..is it different...what is it like??
So I decided to start blogging about noticeable differences...

I am going to start you off with 3 that I have so far..but stay tuned I am sure I will have some each and every week

1.) Skunk smell....today not going to say where...but somewhere in CA people were running around going oh my gosh what is that smell...
not one person but multiple people...so I was looking around like we have to be on punked and was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out from somewhere or something...surely people know what that smell is...
Finally after about 5-6 people trying to figure it out one guy stood up and said oh my gosh..is there a skunk in the building. It took 7 people to figure out what a skunk smells like...
I am guessing they have never visited Glenworth farm during skunk mating season when the dogs got their annual spray from a skunk they had chased.
I just sat there and observed..I mean what else could I do??

2.) NO BLUE BELL ice cream...this is one that i learned within my first week of living in CA
I mean if you are going to eat ice cream you might as well eat the best..Cookie Dough Blue Bell.
Well I could not find it at Albertsons...then I went to Vons..and no blue bell...so i was like what was I thinking I will just go to Wal-Mart..they have everything..and to my surprise..no blue bell..there was not even a label on the shelf like they were possibly sold out. SO I came home stressed about the situation and told TC about my shocking news...which he quickly told me..they don't sell it here...And yes I checked blue bell website and confirmed this..
Well after the commute and no blue bell ice cream I was about ready to pack my bags and move back to KY...this place called CA was not all it was cracked up to be

3.) Number 3 goes along with #2...so when I was trying to decide the next day what my ice cream of choice would be...(i could not buy any that same day I was too traumatized) I learned that Edy's it not called Edy's out here it is called Dreyers...same taste..same package...everything the same..except the name...I guess Dreyers sounds more like it belongs in CA???

Okay that is the 3 for this week...stay tuned for 3 more next week

Hope you all have a good hump day and everyone is having a good productive week!!

But we had alot of fun..enjoyed the sunshine...and got our exercise for the day!

I cant wait to get it to Santa Monica and ride along the beach....

The only thing my new bike is missing is a basket to go on front...stay tuned I will post pics once I get one

Food Truck Anyone....

Last weekend TC and I decided to brave the weather and head to the food truck festival at Central Park in Valencia (I know..I thought New York was the only place allowed to have a central park..and rest assured the Central Park in CA...does not compare to the NY central Park)

Anyway...we got there..and walked around to all the different trucks...there were probably around 30 trucks....how do you even begin to make a decision with that many options.
I have heard stories here about how people follow their favorite food truck via twitter or facebook...haha

I decided to try a dish at a Mexican Food Truck....it was Delicious...I had an empanada
TC picked another food truck..he had a burger with coleslaw on the top and it was sooo spicy
and then for dessert he had a banana empanda

For my dessert I was wanting a ice cream cookie sandwich..it was a red Velvet cookie with different kinds of ice cream...I can almost taste it in my mouth (for those of you who know how much i LOVE red velvet..)
However after standing in line for about 30 minutes..and not really going anywhere..and freezing to death..because oh yeah it was snowing and raining...we decided to abort ship (please see the picks about of tc being a CA pansie as I call him with the cold weather..he is not used to the cold weather anymore..even though at one point in his life he did live in Alaska- TC assures me this will also happen to me...and gives me about a year to be in the same group as he is and about 99% of all other Californians.

So overall the food truck festival was lots of fun..it was so cool to see all of the many different ethnicity and how creative the names were for all the food truck (see picture of the Shrimp Pimp above..haha)
We were told that one of the most popular food trucks at the festival was NAM NAM..which we believe was Korean BBQ...but the line looked at least 2 hours long and we are not the die hard food truck followers like some of these people are!!

Well later this week I will be posting about my first weekend riding my new townie bike..so much fun!!

Hope everyone has a great week....
I miss you all bunches

Also many of you have been asking how my sis is doing..she is doing better..working on getting her diabetes under control....She is working so hard and is doing an awesome job..I am so proud of her and cant wait to see her in April!!
